AUR occurs commonly, when compared with other prevalent conditions for which preventive treatments are offered. In these data from the Olmsted County/Mayo Clinic study, the chance of a 60 year old man developing AUR over a 10 year period was approximately 13.7%, exceeding that of hip fractures, diabetes, stroke, and myocardial infarction (M.I.).
